“Tie One On” roving prayer net season begins

The month of May brings two opportunities to participate in the Tie One On prayer ministry.  These are excellent chances to share our prayer net ministry with our community.  We plan to have a booth at these events where we will invite people to pray and tie a cloth strip on the traveling community prayer net.  People will also be offered a small prayer net to take home with them. We will also have bottled water for those who stop at the booth. Last year’s participants found this to be an experience that people valued.

Your help is needed to join us at these events, or provide supplies or assemble take-home prayer net packets.  Please contact Sharon Brundage at (916) 331-1934 for more information or to volunteer.

Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 10:00 a.m. – The 47th annual North Highlands Memorial Day Parade will go down Watt Avenue.  Our booth will be set up in front of the church office at 6400 Watt Avenue.

Vacation Bible School coming June 17-21

Celebrate 10 Years of Neighborhood VBS with St. Stephens

St. Stephens Presbyterian Church will be holding its annual Vacation Bible School June 17th – 21st.  Our “All Around Fun Fair” will take place from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. on Ladd Court.  This will be the 10th year that the neighbors on Ladd Court will be hosting this event.

Our All Around Fun Fair is an exciting week of crafts, music, games, discovery & Bible Stories.  In addition, participants will work together on a mission project to benefit the North Highlands Food Closet.  Each evening opens with prayer and a light supper and moves into age-appropriate activities for children ages 3 – 12.  We will conclude our week with a mini-carnival for all participants.  The fee is $20 per child and includes a T-Shirt, music CD, and other goodies.

For additional information or registration materials, contact St. Stephens Presbyterian Church at 332-2071.

News

Recycle your used cell phones!  St. Stephens is selected as drop off site for Cell Phones for Soldiers for Antelope and North Highlands.

Praise God our troops have come home from       Iraq, but many of our troops remain deployed    in Afghanistan and other places far from home.  For our troops serving overseas, making a call home is a costly rarity for many military professionals. St. Stephens is in its third year supporting Cell Phones for Soldiers, which helps troops from each branch of the U.S. military call home for free.  Check out their website for more information about this wonderful program at http://cellphonesforsoldiers.com.  To contribute, just drop your equipment in the box at the church office, or the mail slot, or just hand them to Bess Hadley at church on Sunday.  Don’t forget to ask your friends, relatives, and neighbors too!  Cash donations are also accepted.   For more information about this mission, contact Bess at (916) 331-6851.
